Privacy policy

In short: the MySimpleVideo app collects no data and connects to the internet only to check whether a new version is available. This website collects only an e-mail address — and only if you choose to leave it in the form. Details below.

1. Who processes your data

The data controller is the author of MySimpleVideo, operating as MySimpleApps. Contact for all personal-data matters: contact@mysimplevideo.com.

2. The MySimpleVideo app

• All editing, previewing, background removal, motion tracking and exporting happen locally on your computer. The app does not upload your footage, projects or any other files to any server.
• The app requires no account, has no telemetry, and sends no crash reports or usage statistics.
• The only internet connection is the update check: at start-up (and on request from the menu) the app downloads a small file with the current version number from mysimplevideo.com. This is an ordinary HTTPS request that carries no user or machine identifier. A new version is never downloaded automatically; the app only informs you, and you decide whether and when to download it.
• The license key is verified entirely locally. There is no activation server — the app never connects to the internet in connection with the license.
• The app also works without an internet connection (it simply will not check for a new version).

3. This website — what data I collect and why

The only personal data collected by this website is the e-mail address you voluntarily leave in the form to receive a free license key. The address is used exclusively to:

• send you a license key for MySimpleVideo,
• occasionally inform you about new versions of the app.

The legal basis for processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by ticking the consent box in the form.

Together with the address I store the date of the request, the page language and the name of the website you came from (the domain only, e.g. youtube.com — not the full address). This tells me which places on the internet actually help people find the app.

4. What I do NOT collect

• This website uses no tracking cookies and no third-party analytics or advertising systems.
• A simple counter of my own for visits and downloads. To know how many people visit the website and download the app, the server only counts totals: the number of visits and downloads, the page language, the type of system (e.g. Windows, Android) and the name of the site someone came from (e.g. youtube.com). No cookies, no third parties and no stored IP addresses. To avoid counting the same person many times a day, the same short one-way hash as for the form is used — kept only until the end of that day, then deleted. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — basic statistics of my own website.
• Your IP address is not stored in the sign-up registry. For spam protection (a daily request limit) only a short, one-way hash of the IP address is kept, computed with a secret key stored outside the website code — the address cannot be recovered from it, and it changes every day.
• I do not profile users and make no automated decisions about them.

5. Technical data outside my control

• Server logs. Like any web server, the hosting provider's server may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, requested URL) — this also applies to the app's update check. I do not analyse these logs and do not link them to e-mail addresses.
• Web font. This website loads the Inter font from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). When you open the page, your browser connects to those servers and transmits its IP address; Google's privacy policy then applies. The MySimpleVideo app itself uses no external fonts or services.

6. Where and for how long data is stored

E-mail addresses are saved in a file on the hosting server in a directory that is not accessible from the internet, and then moved to a license registry kept locally by the controller. Data is stored until you withdraw consent. It is not shared with any third parties or transferred outside the European Economic Area; the only data recipient is the hosting provider (as a processor).

7. Your rights

You have the right to: access your data, rectify it, erase it ("right to be forgotten"), restrict processing, data portability, and withdraw consent at any time — without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. A single e-mail to contact@mysimplevideo.com is enough — I will remove your address from the registry promptly, at the latest within 14 days. Removing your address does not invalidate a license key that has already been issued.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, uodo.gov.pl).

8. Voluntary contributions

Voluntary contributions are handled by external services (Tipply, Ko-fi) on their own websites and under their own privacy policies. This website never receives your card or account details.

9. Changes to this policy

If the way the app or the website works changes, I will update this document and the date at the top. I will not expand the scope of collected data without a clear notice.
